The much-anticipated second season of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel arrives on the streaming platform soon, and audience theories has been rampant.
Season 1 introduces a diverse group of characters residing in Hell and Heaven, pits them against each other with songs about their clashes, and establishes tense rivalries and angsty, affectionate connections that fuel audience devotion.
The fandom's stated hopes for season 2 differ greatly, but certain themes recur frequently: Could a fan-favorite character break free from Valentino? Will we find out more about the mysterious "deal" constraining the enigmatic Alastor? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Obviously, I don't produce the show with audience demands specifically in mind," the showrunner stated earlier this year. "But I believe that me being a devotee of the series implies there's a lot of it just inherently. I also want to see these things, and I hope some of these things to occur, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She reveals her big-picture plan is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have already been green-lit by the production companies, which finance the series.
That could imply fans have to be patient for some of the major resolutions — but they may be surprised at how fast season 2 progresses, and how much of what they're waiting for happens now.
"I feel like people are going to be highly satisfied," the creator notes. "We get some firsts. I think we get some incredible reveals, some really cool origin tales, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience much more singing from the previously silent cast members."
She's certainly aware of the theories and desires about the upcoming season — especially in the form of audience prediction charts.
"I've seen a few fans create a bingo card about season 2," she says. "Obviously I won't share it, but I've actually done a few items, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season premieres on Prime Video on October 29.
